Safety tips should roll over to the first face to face meeting.
| Tell someone where you're going: Whether it's your Mom, your best friend or just a co-worker, let someone in your life know that you are going to be out on a date with someone you're meeting for the first time. Let them know them where you're meeting, it should be a public place but more on that later. |

Treat this date like any other: Cell phone, cab fare, emergency phone numbers-don't leave home without them.
Meet in a public place: For obvious reasons, both guys and girls should meet their IM buddy for the first time at the local mall, Red Lobster, or anywhere else where lots of people will be around. It wouldn't hurt to familiarize yourself with any escape routes.
