Is Natalie Portman A Lesbian ?
Natalie Portman is an Israeli American actress best known for portraying the role of Queen Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. However, her debut film, Leon, which is known as The Professional in the United States, also won her a lot of critical acclaim. Portman has a degree in psychology from Harvard University, and also directed a film entitled Eve, which was the opening film in the short film category at the 65th Venice International Film Festival. |
For a long time there has been a rumor of Natalie Portman being gay. According to her website, this rumor started because of an interview she gave to Rolling Stone magazine. In the course of the interview, Portman was asked whether she believed she was gay while she was growing up. To which Natalie responded in the affirmative although she clarified that she had never dated a woman. She went on to say that there was no reason why people should close themselves to the fifty percent of the population. She further implied that it did not matter whether a person fell in love with a man or woman. What was important was the person and not the gender. She also mentioned that she loved some girlfriends in school, but she is more compatible with men than women.
This interview was sufficient to start rumors about Natalie Portman being a lesbian. However, as mentioned earlier, she has clearly and categorically stated on her website that she is not gay. She goes one step further to say that no one should rule out the possibility of having a same sex relationship as nothing is certain in life.
