Humans are extremely luck on this planet. They have the benefit of experiencing spirituality as well as sexuality. Lower organisms just know sexuality as means of procreating and ensuring survival of the species. However, with humans it is different. They can find solace in spirituality when all else fails. |
Spirituality can be defined as the awakening the consciousness of the soul. It is believed that when a person falls in love, the first experience that he feels is in the soul. Thereafter, physical experiences take over. Love invokes the soul to respond where a person sees good in the whom he loves.
If we take spirituality vs sexuality, then it can be said that a person who is spiritual sees good in everyone. This quality is very rare, and is seen in saints. But this does not mean that people who are less spiritual than saints do not see good in others. They do, but to a lesser degree. On the other hand, if we take into consideration sexuality, it is considered to be consciousness of the body. In sexuality, the person feels a number of emotional and physical feelings and urges.
Many believe that in order to grow spiritually, a person first has to accept his sexuality. Without this acceptance, spiritual growth is not possible. In other words, if a person does not accept his sexuality, he will not be able to love others as what is required in order to be spiritual. He will in a constant state of flux and chaos. The person will not know whether to give in carnal pleasures or follow the moral codes stipulated by society and family.
