Kissing tradition is similar to greeting someone. Expressions, body language, spark in eyes and smile on face say many things.


Usually, a kiss is considered to be a romantic gesture, but it is also be used as a sign of greeting and respect. Kissing three times on alternate cheeks is necessary in Egypt, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, and The Netherlands. Kissing on both cheeks has is preferred by the Italians, while in Mexico one kiss is needed. In the Galapagos Islands, women kiss just on the right cheek, while in Oman, it is customary for men kiss each other on the nose after a warm handshake. In the French culture, many types of greetings are acceptable, depending on the location. For instance, in Provence, people usually kiss twice on the cheeks, while in Nantes, it is four times.
