Another aspect of being a skilled communicator is having a patient listening ear. Only after giving a patient hearing to the problems of one’s team members, can the leader form the correct opinion, devise alternatives or bring alterations in strategy focusing towards success.
In towards techno savvy world, a competent communicator in the role of a leader makes use of the right format of communication in accordance to the need of the hour. One needs prudent judgment to decide which category of communication to be utilized such as face to face dialogue, telephone or email. Also, a wise communicator ensures that his communication is to the cognitive level of the audience for an enhanced comprehension.
Voice pitch, intonation, voice modulation, facial expressions and gestures -- all are co-partners in the bringing out of good communication skills. The body language of a leader should be in co-ordination with the message being communicated; else the significance of the dialogue is completely lost.
