What the leader needs to keep in mind is to be prompt and explicit regarding the specific work being credited for. Development of team spirit is also another important step towards motivation and undoubtedly the leader’s role is most vital in this respect. Team spirit makes people identify with the organization, which thereafter becomes part of their essence.
A leader can motivate his or her employees by involving them in the decision making process. Once they are part of the decision making, they no longer consider themselves as mere doers. This process evokes a sense of responsibility within the employees. Open communication creates an exceptional bond that takes the plan to its destination. Empathy is another powerful motivational weapon for a leader. It is crucial to look after the emotional needs of the staff and life their morale. Likewise, it is vital to counsel staff members regularly with respect to their work profile. A person going astray needs to be brought on line at the earliest. A timely feedback can do wonders in motivating an individual and navigating him or her towards the right direction.
